Frequently asked questions

FAQ
Q: How do I become an RCI Points Member?
A:
If you are not a timeshare owner or if your current resort is not affiliated with RCI Points, you need to first purchase timeshare with an RCI Points-affiliated resort in order to become an RCI Points Member.

Q: What is the difference between RCI Points and other Timeshare Points systems?
This question is best answered in three parts.

A:
1. RCI Points is the first and only truly global Timeshare Points System. With RCI Points you can use your Points and enjoy the flexibility, control, performance and options in one fashion or another at all 5,000 + RCI affiliated resorts worldwide and RCI Points Partners.

2. With most other resort developers points systems, the flexibility, control and options you have are only as broad and far reaching as the number of sister properties in that developer’s family of resorts. Generally, if a member of one of these points systems wants to go to a resort outside its own family of properties, they must “convert” their points to a week, deposit that week with RCI and use it as a week when they exchange it. That’s traditional timeshare, which defeats the purpose of owning a points system in the first place.

3. RCI Points are very simple to use. Your points are automatically deposited into your points account once your annual maintenance fee is paid to your home resort for that year. After that anything and everything you would like to do with your points can be facilitated by calling RCI Points or manage your RCI Points account on line. Its very simple and user friendly.

Q: What "TRADING VALUE" do my Points have?  A: One of the greatest things about RCI POINTS is... POINTS are POINTS! There is no trading power with RCI POINTS. No longer are there the concerns about which season, size unit or resort designation to own. Think of points as a form of currency. A dollar in Hawaii is the same as a dollar in San Antonio! All that matters is that you have enough points to confirm the reservation request you have chosen.

So, because POINTS are POINTS! The goal is to acquire as many Points for annual usage for the least amount of money with a reasonable annual maintenance fee.

Q: How did RCI come up with the Point values of the resorts?
A:
The Point values are based upon several variables including location of resort, resort quality, resort amenities, unit configuration, resort and regional demand and time of year.

Q: How many Points do we need?
A:
That depends on how many nights per year you and your family desire to travel.

Q: How do I exchange with RCI if I am an RCI Points member?
A:
As a member of RCI Points, you are automatically a member of RCI Weeks. If you want to travel to an RCI- affiliated resort that does not participate in RCI Points, you may request an RCI Exchange to the property. The Points Exchange Grid in the RCI Points Community Guide shows you the number of Points you will need to book a particular season and size of unit. When you are ready to make the reservation, simply call your RCI Travel Consultant to check the availability.
